The Beginning
VillageCrafts started as a small initiative working with just 5 artisans from a single village in Rajasthan.
Connecting artisans with the world, preserving traditions while creating sustainable livelihoods
VillageCrafts was born from a simple yet powerful vision: to bridge the gap between skilled rural artisans and global markets while preserving India's rich cultural heritage.
We believe that every handcrafted product tells a story of tradition, skill, and cultural identity that deserves to be shared with the world. Through our platform, we aim to create sustainable livelihoods for artisans while introducing consumers to the beauty and quality of traditional craftsmanship.
By working directly with artisan communities, we ensure fair compensation and sustainable practices. Our commitment extends beyond commerce – we invest in skill development, provide access to quality materials, and help artisans adapt their crafts to contemporary tastes without compromising their traditional techniques.
VillageCrafts started as a small initiative working with just 5 artisans from a single village in Rajasthan.
Expanded to 3 states and 15 villages, bringing 50+ artisans onto the platform.
Launched our e-commerce platform, enabling artisans to reach customers directly during challenging times.
Started international shipping and expanded product categories to include organic food products and wellness items.
Now working with 200+ artisans across 7 states, with a focus on sustainable materials and eco-friendly packaging.
Beyond the numbers, our impact extends to preserving dying art forms, reviving traditional techniques, and creating sustainable livelihoods. Many of the communities we work with have seen income increases of 40-60%, allowing artisans to educate their children and invest in their futures while continuing their craft traditions.
We've trained over 120 young artisans in traditional crafts that were at risk of being lost, ensuring these skills pass to the next generation. Our women's empowerment initiatives have helped 85+ female artisans become financially independent.
